Spring is a time for renewal.
It’s such a simple idea that it seems cliché to state the obvious. Well, here’s to clichés.
The end of the semester has come and gone for me; thus, I am out from underneath mountains of reading and grading writing portfolios. So, it is my time for renewal, even though it’s a bit later than the spring cleaning most undertake.
I find myself doing the typical spring cleaning chore mantra:
- closets cleaned out
- spring and summer clothes pulled from storage
- winter clothes packed into storage
- flower beds weeded
- shrubs pruned and shaped
- new perennials purchased and planted
- mulch spread in front flower bed
- mulch on list to purchase for back flower beds
- vegetable garden plot weeded and soil tilled
- tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and cucumbers planted
Among this yearly list (which seems to ever grow longer, by the way), this year, I have begun another renewal, the renewal and migration of my blog. Sometime during mid-March, perhaps right around our spring break, I decided I was no longer satisfied with the home for my book blog on Blogger. I had long been contemplating a move to a WordPress blog, but had never made that transition. But this spring, I decided it was time to make the move.
Unfortunately, the time that I decided to make this transition was really not the best time to do so. A spring semester with four full writing classes is not the ideal time to undertake migrating a blog. So, here I am with the days moving toward summer at a pace far too rapid for my liking renewing and refurbishing my blog.
If you have found your way to my space, welcome to Word Stained. Please bear with me as I migrate book reviews from their former home. I will be adding newer reviews along the way as well for I have a summer full of reading planned.
I hope that you will find my little space of the Internet is a place where you can visit regularly and where you can freely share in my love of the written word.
